A criminal known as “Faceless Pete” is a historically-verifiable figure in Realmgard. The name arose from said criminal committing his long-running crime spree while wearing a burlap sack over his head as a disguise. Scholarly opinion is unanimous that he did, in fact, have a face underneath his burlap sack, though remains divided on whether his name was actually “Pete”.

Theories on the identity of the person under the burlap sack range from a disgruntled employee of Porthaven’s Guild Authority, a woman with a gift for misdirection, or even two kids standing wearing a trench coat to look like an adult.

However, in the years and decades following the original Faceless Pete’s original crime spree, the tales have grown in the telling and nowadays, Faceless Pete is best-known as a ghost story.

The ghostly Faceless Pete is said to stalk the shadows of night, lurking in dark corners, underneath beds, or inside disogranised sock drawers, waiting to pounce and eat the unwary.

How he is supposed to do this without a face is unclear…
