While not located at the exact geographic centre of Realmgard, the Midwood is nevertheless the largest and most prominent in the middle regions of the continent. It is said to be the home of the legendary Wombax, the ancient guardian of the trees and wildlife of the forest.

Though the Wombax is the fearsome protector of the forest and known to wreak a terrible vengeance on wrongdoers, the Wombax is said to tolerate and even aid those who make reasonable and sustainable use of the forest’s resources.

A settlement of such foresters exists at the forest’s southeastern edge in the village of Timbers. The foresters of Timbers maintain very rigid quotas and actively manage the planting of new tress in order to avoid incurring the ire of the Wombax.

The village is connected to the rest of southeastern Realmgard by the river flowing into Crescent Lake. Timbers thus supplies many of the nearby settlements with lumber, though continues to uphold its agreement with the Wombax not to bring harm to the forest.
