There are many mermaids (and mer-dudes) in Realmgard. This is one of them: the so-called Beauty of the Bay. The Bay in question being the one where the the city of Goldharbour is located.
Scholars debate whether the Beauty is a real historical figure, as there are numerous historical accounts of mermaids appearing in the waters around the port of Goldharbour.
Some scholars suggest that any or all of these mermaids were the Beauty herself, while others argue that the Beauty is a purely literary figure created as a composite of the best parts of the stories about these real encounters being retold and embellished over time.
Whether a real historical figure or simply a literary figure, the Beauty of the Bay is remembered as the single most beautiful mermaid in the history of Realmgard and remains the subject of popular romance stories, poems and dramas.
Notably, the Beauty of the Bay is one of the few subjects of mermaid stories to get a happy ending, living happily ever after in a palace under the sea with her beloved mariner Clive.
