This is a quick mock-up of what is eventually going to be a part of a map of the Amazon Decapolis, the ten settlements of Realmgard’s Amazons named after the ten most important Amazon heroines.
The short version is that’s a sacred island and that’s the Amazon’s main goddess on top of that column, which is supposed to indicate that there’s a temple to said goddess on said sacred island.
There’ll be more details with the final version of the map, I promise.
Basically, this is the result of me trying to digitally colour my artwork without cleaning up my line art first — I’m sure that sentence just made a thousand serious artists scream in agony…
I’m not quite ready to be doing Art seriously enough to invest in a program that actually costs money, so I use a free software called GIMP, which is perfectly adequate for what I’m using it for (i.e. being a complete amateur), though I have noticed that the program’s Bucket Fill tool is real temperamental.
But that actually kinda worked out this time around.
The Bucket Fill being finicky and not completely filling the area left the image looking at more like a old, battered page than it does when I’m trying to do things on purpose.
I still think I’m going to clean it up for the final version (stay tuned for that, by the way), but this looked cool enough that I thought it was worth posting.
