In brief, the Royal is one of WWE’s major events and generally marks the start of WrestleMania season, largely because the winner of the Rumble gets a title shot at Mania.
There have, of course, been Rumbles that have had either dissatisfying or outright bad conclusions, but the Royal Rumble match itself is almost always an entertaining thing, largely because it’s guaranteed to be the best kind of trainwreck as thirty dudes (and, as of 2018, another match with thirty women) try to fling each other out of the ring to get the win.
And another major aspect of the Rumble’s appeal is that there will also be shocking returns, none more shocking that a teenage J.B. Norman’s favourite wrestler Edge returning in 202 after being forced to retire in 2011.
But, seriously, the Royal Rumble is pretty much always guaranteed to be an entertaining couple hours.
And so, whether you chose to spend tonight watching the Royal, or incorrectly, I wish you all a very happy Royal Rumble day.
Also, I, uh, I couldn’t think of anything else to post and I wanted to write something today…
