As promised, the Smashwords page for The Alchemist of Middlesbrooke is up today.
The big takeaway here is that The Alchemist of Middlesbrooke will be available on July 12.
But, turns out this process doesn’t work like I thought it did…
Ultimately, it doesn’t look like you can actually pre-order the ebook via Smashwords.
And, perhaps, more pressingly, you can’t put a free book up for pre-order. As a placeholder, the price is currently set as “Pay What You Want”, with a suggested price of $1 (American).
Now, this is just a placeholder. When The Alchemist of Middlesbrooke goes live, it will be set to a free download.
I decided to call an audible. I decided it was more useful to me to have a page for the book to be able to get eyes on it between now and July to help me, you know, actually promote it.
By having something to, you know, actually promote.
Also, this is a learning experience. This is the first book I’ve ever tried to put up as a pre-order on Smashwords. Hopefully, the process for the next one will be smoother.
Also also, at some point in the future, The Alchemist of Middlesbrooke will also be able for free download via other channels once I work out the best way to do that logistically.
As always, stay tuned for more.
