FYI: My thought process for the name “Count Bunnyescu” was basically “I want a more outlandish form of something like ‘Mr. Bunny’.”
In Romanian, -escu is a common suffix in last names, corresponding etymologically to Latin suffix -iscus, which are both used to indicate origin or membership of a group, kinda-sorta but not exactly like a patronymic suffix like -son/-sen/-sson in Germanic languages or -oglu in Turkish.
For, example, the original Latin form the name Francis is Franciscus, combining the placename Francia with the suffix -iscus to mean, essentially “person (specifically man) from Francia”, and the second most common Romanian surname, Popescu means “child (the name is not apparently gendered) of a priest”, bearing in mind that Orthodox, which most Romanians are, priests can be married.
All of this is to say, the Romanian-inspired name and especially the “Count” are deliberate choices to leave open the possibility that he’s a Vampire Bunny…
Count Bunnyescu
“You shouldn’t lie like that, Matilda. It makes Count Bunnyescu sad.”

Occupation: Beloved rabbit doll
A man of : integrity and courage
Fabric colour: blue, at one point
Apparently: a noble of middling rank
The beloved rabbit stuffy of Sally Lyte, the youngest Lyte child, Count Bunnyescu is seldom seen without his owner. Sally has owned Count Bunnyescu since shortly after her birth and has cherished the rabbit doll ever since.
Originally a vivid blue, being much-loved by Sally has left Count Bunnyescu threadbare and faded to a sort of vaguely bluish grey, though Sally’s fondness — and perhaps obsession — for her stuffed companion remains undiminished.
According to Sally, Count Bunnyescu deplores dishonorable conduct and is man of integrity and courage and a comfort to troubled souls. Sally demands that her beloved rabbit companion must be shown due deference.
