Uncle Wintermorn

The legendary figured associated with Realmgard’s winter holiday of Wintermorn, Uncle Wintermorn is known by various names and guises throughout the different cultures of the continent — as ‘Uncle Wintermorn’ throughout the Gardian-speaking regions, as ‘Père Hivernal’ (Father Winter) in Gallicantu and the Gallicantien-speaking regions of Aurora, as the panther-riding warrior-god ‘Divus Imperator Brumalis’ (the Divine Emperor of Winter) among the Amazons, as ‘Basci Dér’ (Uncle Frost) accompanied by his adoptive daughter Morgenmädchen (the Morning Maiden) among the Goblins and Dwarves.
The exact details of Uncle Wintermorn’s appearance and role in the holiday vary, but all the variations of the Uncle Wintermorn stories are generally in agreement that he is a bearded, avuncular figure wearing fur-trimmed clothing (mostly commonly depicted as either blue or red) who is responsible for bestowing Wintermorn presents on the well-behaved children of Realmgard.
Similarly, while the details vary, it is customary throughout Realmgard to leave out gifts of food on the night before Wintermorn for Uncle Wintermorn. As is the case with the figure of Uncle Wintermorn himself, there is much cultural variation of these traditional foods, though milk and cookies are the most common throughout Realmgard.
