Sir Chiswick von Strontlebottom
[T]he eminent Sir Chiswick himself, he of the equally-eminent moustache. Sufficiently eminent, perhaps, to comfortably house a family of four.

Age: 62
Occupation: Porthaven’s Minister of Antiquities
Likes: the ancient past, moustache wax, a good cotillion
Dislikes: bandits, thieves, other assorted threats to the material heritage of Porthaven
Career: Long and distinguished
Demeanour: generally avuncular
His Head Has a Longer Wingspan Than: most documented species of birds
Previously a member of the faculty of the University of Porthaven, Sir Chiswick von Strontlebottom the Free Mercantile City of Porthaven’s long-serving Minister of Antiquities. Sir Chiswick is best-known in the city for two things: a long and much-respected career as an antiquarian and his stupendously large and styled facial hair. In addition to countless academic accolades, Sir Chiswick was also won numerous moustache-related awards in his time.
Sir Chiswick is quite popular with the faculty of the University, particularly the younger staff members, as he is always eager to give aspiring academics opportunities to boost their careers, as well as mentor his younger associates.
Given the city administration’s lack of manpower relative to the size of its territory, Sir Chiswick is often tasked with hiring adventuring guilds to catalogue and protect any sites of archaeological interest with the city’s territory and driving off any bandits or thieves that may have crept in to those sites. Thanks to his many social connections in the city and gregarious personality, Sir Chiswick is perfectly-suited to this task
Quick editorial note: Chiswick is a district of London (England, not Ontario), which is pronounced like “Chiz-Ick”. Our good Minister of Antiquities is not named for, or even like, the real Chiswick and I don’t remember if I even knew that Chiswick was a real place when I first wrote the character.
All of this is to say, that while the real-life Chiswick is pronounced “Chiz-Ick”, this Chiswick is not. In this context, it’s supposed to be Chiz-Wick.
Though, really, readint it back just now, I don’t hate “Chiz-Ick” von Strontlebottom as a pronunciation. So, like, Reader’s Choice, I guess, with an authorial suggestion that I did initially intend it to be “Chiz-Wick”…
