The long-anticipated but thoroughly-unexpected third Endless Ocean game

During their Partner Showcase Direct earlier this week, Nintendo came directly to us —

RIP, Mr. Iwata. Thanks for everything, including this absolutely wonderful .gif.

— with an announcement that is literally the most excited I’ve been for a video game reveal since I literally cried tears of joy over Rune Factory 5.

Luckily, even at my lowest, I carry myself with a certain sort of quiet dignity.

[Incidentally, I’ve written about Rune Factory here.]

And that reveal is the long-anticipated but thoroughly-unexpected third Endless Ocean game, Endless Ocean Luminous:

Admittedly, I’m probably never going to do a full-length Recommendation post about Endless Ocean, at least in part because of the logistical issues of playing Wii-exclusive games in this, the Year of Our Lord 2024.

That being said I absolutely recommendation experiencing them if you can get your hands on them. The original Endless Ocean is one of the most idyllic video game experiences I’ve ever played and the sequel, Blue World (known as Adventures of the Deep outside North America) feels like more of a proper adventure as you travel the world trying to undercover the mystery of an ancient ocean-faring civilisation not unlike the mythical Atlantis.

Now, I bring this up because 1) I’m legitimately excited for this and 2) this gives me get another opportunity to pitch the Tales of the Sea Giveaway.
