Goblins

Crossing over into Realmgard from the eastern continent by unclear means, the Goblins first appear in Realmgardian historical accounts in the centuries following the collapse of the Elven Empire. Because of their historical origins outside of Realmgard, the language of the Goblins is not similar to most of the other languages spoke on the continent, being most closely related to the ancient Aurorean language, perhaps suggesting that the Goblins entered the continent from the north. The Goblin language has, however, been influenced to a certain degree by other Realmgardian languages, most notably the Dwarven language.
Goblins are short of stature and not generally known for physical prowess, giving rise to negative stereotypes of being treacherous and crafty or for achieving victory as a screaming horde through sheer strength of numbers. In fact, Goblin society traditionally values personal scrupulousness, honesty, and respectful interpersonal interactions. Notably, it is a well-established Goblin tradition to remove one’s hat in the presence of a respected individual and not to disrespect a person one respects — leading to the saying at a hatless Goblin can assumed to be telling the truth.
Goblins do tend to be highly communal and value the bonds of family and friendship, often out of necessity to make up for most individual Goblin’s lack of size and sheer physical strength. While Goblin armies did launch daring raids across most of Realmgard, even reaching as far as Pelayo in past centuries, since settling in the Northwall Basin and establishing a more sedentary kingdom, Goblin politics have tended towards diplomacy and conciliation, culminating in the peaceful unification of the Dwarven and Goblin kingdoms
