So, in terms of working on Realmgard stories, I’m continuing with editing both Alchemist of Middlesbrooke and the new Sisters Darkstone manuscript.
Progress is being made on both, but we’re still at the “It’ll be done when it’s done” stage.
The current plan is to do my next Daily Writing thing in November, mostly because it’s Q4, I want to focus on other things in October and November is going to be less hectic than December.
Now, November is that… annual Book-Writing thing with the acronym that’s, like, twenty-seven letters long and not actually much of an acronym. You know the thing — it’s NoNoWriteMo… November Novel Writing Month, uh, month?
That’s not immediately relevant. Like I’ve said many, many times now, I’m not one for the latest Internet fad, so this is less me participating in said fad and more me coincidentally doing something vaguely similar concurrently.
Again, November is really just the best month for a Daily Writing thing in this quarter.
In terms of the stuff I’ve been watching and playing lately, Shogun 2 was on sale this weekend. On the one hand, I’ve been waiting to play a Total War game since I was about 11 years old. On the other hand, I have no idea how to actually play the game.
Honestly, that’s par for the course for Strategy Games. I never got the hang of Civilization, I sucked at Age of Mythology and Warcraft, I actually managed to get through a campaign in Romance of the Three Kingdoms and Nobunaga’s Ambition on the lowest possibly difficulty playing as the strongest possible faction.
Also, it’s doesn’t run very well on my laptop…
Though I am having fun watching somebody who knows what they’re doing Youtubing a Let’s Play of the game.
Also, I’ve been watching Martian Successor Nadesico (FYI, it’s pronounced like “na-desh-ko”), which is basically Evangelion without the impenetrable Gnostic symbolism and cripplingly-neurotic characters — to the point of sharing several voice actors in the English dub.
I’ve also been watching The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated! (FYI, it’s pronounced like ja-hee; she’s named for a Zoroastrian demoness), which is basically the Fantasy version of Squid Girl. In brief, Jahy was formerly the second-in-command of an archetypal Dark Lord in an archetypal Fantasy World, got overthrown and banished to the human world, now she has to work for a living as a waitress.
Finally, I just signed up for another Fiction-Atlas giveaway. There’s not stated start date for that yet, but it’ll probably be a while.
On the other hand, I am involved in a giveaway that’s running right now:

Also, I’m still waiting to hear about the winner of the Percy Jackson giveaway that just ended, but I’ll post that information as soon as I have it.
