WIP: This Will be the Lyte Brigade

Still in the early stages, but at least the colours are pretty…

First things first, a reminder that tomorrow’s chapter will be a preview of Forward, the Lyte Brigade. With that in mind, as I prepare to start Foward, the Lyte Brigade for real, I’ve been working on some art of the members of the Lyte Brigade.

So far, what I have to show for it is this:

A work in progress picture of the six members of the Lyte Brigade.

That’s (going to be) Amara at the left, Nolan in red, Falcata in the middle, Pela on her shoulders, Matilda in pink, and Tancred at the end.

Now, this is pretty much the first time I’ve attempted one picture of a group of people rather than just slapping multiple discrete pictures together and calling it a day.

Mostly, I’m thinking I need to figure out how to correctly proportion my characters as however many heads tall. I still don’t really understand the method behind that, or how big a “head” is even supposed to be.

For now, the system is basically ‘Falcata’s real tall, Pela’s real short, Amara’s not as tall as Falcata, Matilda’s probably taller than Nolan, and Tancred is also there.”

It’ll be interesting to see how this is going to turn out when it’s done. It helps at least a little that I’ve more or less hammered out most of the details of how they’re supposed to look.

Incidentally, if you want to read up on the members of the Lyte Brigade, here’s their bios:

And, if you want to catch up with Fryte’s Gold before we wrap things up with the epilogue next week, here’s the chapters:
