Realmgard Short Scenes: Coat of Plates

Realmgard’s most popular dice-and-imagination-based hobby.

As I have previously mentioned in discussing Game Wizards – the non-fiction book that serves as a corporate history of Dungeons & Dragons creators TSR, Inc. – the game we know as Dungeons & Dragons grew out of a tabletop combat game called Chainmail.

Chainmail is, of course, a kind of armour.

And so is a coat of plates. Hence why Realmgard’s version of Dungeons & Dragons is called Coat of Plates.

So, anyway, here’s some scenes based on Realmgard’s most popular dice-and-imagination-based hobby.

Where are the rest of her clothes? Is she adventuring to the beach?

She rolls her eyes.

“How vulgar. Clearly, this game was created by a man.”

“Of course, the man is wearing an entire suit of armour! I swear, I shall be writing letters over this. I am going to find the people behind this game — all of them men, no doubt — and give them a piece of my mind!”

“Why am I the one in charge? I’ve played this game twice!”

“Well, none of us can be the Dungeonarrator, because we all want to play!”

“But I have to learn all this new rules!”

“Katherine, my dear, there’s no time like to the present.”

“This one for example, ‘Krimson Katja and the Sea-Fiends of Lake Limni’,” Amara says. “It’s only been eight paragraphs, but she’s already single-handedly defeated an entire gang of lake pirates.

“If they live in a lake, how are they Sea-Fiends?” Kat asks.
