Detail of a Second Map: Albatross Bay

That’s an albatross, not a seagull.

A major player in maritime trade like nearby Arrow Head and the Free Cities further east, Albatross Bay was able to extend its trade routs further inland by funding the construction of a canal to Crescent Lake, allowing its merchants to more easily trade with the inland settlements without middlemen.

The city is thus also a popular stopover for travellers seeking passage inland to the central regions of Realmgard.

The city’s emblem reflects the city’s connection to the sea and bears the image of its namesake bird — though many of the unaware believe that the emblem is, in fact, a seagull.

Which it is not. It is very much, well and truly, an albatross.
