Lately, the Lyte Brigade has been working with the company of Boss Virrad, collaborating to put a stop of several of the other mercenary companies in and around Porthaven that have becoming increasingly unruly and bothersome to the city’s leadership. To help the Lyte Brigade, Boss Virrad has loaned them Kat and Skadi.
Out of sight on far side of hill from where their current targets have made camp, the Lyte Brigade is huddling to discuss plan of attack.
“We could try tunnelling underneath their camp,” Tancred offers. “Then jump out right in the middle of them before they have a chance to react.”
“That seems like an awful lot of work,” Matilda notes. “It’s just a camp. They don’t even have walls or anything we need to get past.”
“Maybe if we distract them on the far side of the camp, the rest of us can rush in from his side and hide them from behind,” Nolan offers.
“Just lemme chuck a fireball at them,” Matilda says. “Look how close their tents are huddle up. One fireball. Boom. Done. Easy.”
“How about I ride around on Falcata’s shoulders and shoot at them?” Pela asks.
“Do you just want to be tall again, Miss Pela?” Amara replies.
“… Yes,” Pela says quietly.
“Fireball,” Matilda urges.
Tancred looks up.
“You know, it looks like it might thunderstorm soon. Perhaps we can somehow dupe them into holding some big metal poles and we let the storm take care of them.”
“Now, I can’t help but notice that we aren’t really including Katherine and Miss Skadi in all our strategising,” Amara notes. “I don’t imagine that Boss Virrad will be overly pleased that we aren’t keeping his organisation involved in this.”
Amara glances up and looks towards Kat.
“Katherine, would you and your, ah, associate care to join us?”
Kat is sitting on a rock a little ways way from the Lyte Brigade’s huddle.
Stifling a yawn, she shrugs.
“No need.”
“How do you figure, Katherine?” Amara asks.
Kat shrugs again. “It’s just that whatever plan you plan, I guarantee isn’t not going to work.”
“Do you know something we don’t?” Nolan asks.
“Um, sort of. Let’s just say that Skadi here isn’t exactly the strategising sort,” Kat answers, nodding towards the Hrimfaxi woman. “Just give it minute.”
Skadi begins striding forward.
“I know just how to handle this,” she declares.
“Okay,” Nolan says, “how do you think we shoud—”
And Skadi continues striding right past him.
“There is it,” Kat mutters.
The six members of the Lyte Brigade stare dumbly as the Hrimfaxi woman hefts her two axes and goes charging off with a sound like:
“BLAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGH!”
Falcata nods in approval as we watches.
Kat rolls her eyes.
“Every. Single. Time.”
“So, um,” Nolan stammers, still blinking in bemusement. “Lyte Brigade, move out. I guess?”
Right now, Kat is just happy that Skadi is somebody else’s problem. And, hey, at least she’s still getting paid.
She pushes herself off her rock and picks up her bow.
