Admittedly, it’s been a while since I’ve watched any Pirates of the Caribbean movie other than the first one, but I do have vague memories of the pirates having a secret pirate base in a city made of, like, boats stapled together.
While that idea of an exclusive pirates-only pirate base was my inspiration for this scene. I have actually already established that Realmgard’s pirates do, in fact, have their own exclusive pirate base in the form of Roger Island.

“Welcome to Roger Island,” the two guards at the dock say as Dunstana comes down the gangplank.
Kat takes a step to follow her.
“Not you,” they declare, blocking her path with with muskets.
“What? Why?” Kat cries. “I didn’t even do anything. I just got here!”
“No outsiders allowed,” the first guard says.
“Pirates only,” the second guard says. “And just any pirates, either. Only pirates officially in good standing with the Brotherhood of the Coasts.”
“I’m with her?” Kat offers, pointing to Dunstana, who is too engrossed buying some fish-on-a-stick from a nearby stall to help, or care, or even notice.
The guards exchange a look.
“Is that allowed?”
“Well, it’s in the Brotherhood Constitution, innit?”
The two guards turn back to Kat.
“To enter, you must be established to be either a pirate, or the son of a pirate,” the first guard declares.
The second guard leans forward. “Though,” he adds, “for legal purposes, ‘son’ is understood to also encompass the ‘girl-son’ of a pirate.”
“Girl-son?” Kat asks sceptically. “Do you mean daughter?”
“There wasn’t enough room on the Constitution to add that to the actual text,” the guard admits.
“So, we just put a little asterisk on the part about ‘or the son of a pirate’ and a note explaining at the bottom,” the first guard says.
“Cool, cool, cool,” Kat mutters with a sigh. “That means I can go in, right?”
She starts taking a step. Only to be blocked by the guards’ muskets again.
“Can you definitively prove that you are the son—”
“— or girl-son—”
“—of a pirate sanctioned by and in good standing with the Brotherhood of the Coasts?”
“Well,” Kat offers. “My dad is Dorian Darkstone, what more do you want?”
“But can you prove it?”
“What do you want me to do?” Kat asks. “Point him out of a line-up.”
“That would be acceptable,” the first guard says.
“Or,” the second guard says, “we could consult the official Brotherhood genealogical tables.”
“To the Hall of Records!” the first guard declares.
“I can never remember how to get there…” the second guard mutters.
“To the Hall of Maps to look up how to get to the Hall of Records!”
“There,” Kat cries triumphantly, hammering her finger onto the page of Volume 457 of the Brotherhood of the Coasts’ genealogical records. “Right there. That’s me!”
Her finger is touching the long-sought-after words Dorian Darkstone – Daughter, Katherine H. Darkstone.
“Can you prove that’s you?” the guard asks.
Kat groans, deflating so thoroughly she hits her head on the table.
Suddenly, the door of the Hall of Records opens.
“Kaaaaaat,” a familiar voice cries. “Are you in here?”
“Oi, ’oo are you?” the guard says to Dunstana.
“I’m Dunstana,” the little pirate says. “See, I’ve got the badge and everything.”
She opens her jacket, revealing her official Brotherhood of the Coasts badge identifying her.
“And what about this one?” the guard asks, pointing to Kat. “Do you know her?”
“Oh, yeah. That’s Kat. She’s cool. She’s my sister,” Dunstana says.
The guards exchange a nod.
They turn back to get
“Right. In you go. Do please enjoy your stay on Roger Island.”
“Where were you five hours ago?” Kat cries, flinging her arms up in frustation.
“Looking for you,” Dunstana answers. “Where were you?”
